How to Best Surprise Your Girlfriend with A Proposal

It has been building for a while and you know that she is the “one” – the one with who you want spend the rest of your life, be the mother of your children, and grow old together. And even better, you know that she feels the same way. There really is no better feeling in the world than that of being in love!

So that’s it, you know what you want and who you want, now comes the really hard part – how are you going to reel her in and seal the deal? You want to make it official in a special way, with a proposal for marriage that is special, unique, and a surprise.

Failing to Plan…

No need to go overboard here, but it is essential that you plan your proposal down to the last detail. And although having the wherewithal to spend a large amount of money on your proposal definitely broadens your horizons when it comes to potential surprise proposals, it comes second to a great imagination and a proposal planned to the last detail.

To avoid a nasty or unexpected surprise during your surprise proposal, try to anticipate any potential flaws in your plan. For example, if you intend proposing outdoors, what will happen if it rains? Do you have a contingency? If you have bought a ring for the engagement, does the jeweler accept returns or exchanges if your fiancé does not like what you have selected? All these “small” factors must be considered and anticipated in advance.

The Grand Plan

Chances are that amongst the millions of proposals that have been performed in the past that it will be nigh on impossible to think of something completely original. Following are some of the more surprising proposals used in the past:

  • A proposal during half time at the basketball, football, or any other sporting event – on the big screen for the whole world to see.
  • A proposal on a billboard or as part of the credits at the end of a movie
  • A surprise trip to an island followed by a proposal on site
  • A helicopter ride with a proposal a few thousand feet in the air
  • How about a flash mob proposal?

Get inspired by these surprise proposals

The fact is that it has all been done before; however, that doesn’t mean that your proposal will be any the less for it or that you have to lose your element of surprise.

However difficult it may seem, try to keep your cool and your wits about you. If you are a dithering ball of nerves, your girlfriend will know that something is afoot. Perhaps a good stiff drink before meeting your future fiancé or as part of the pre-proposal plan is in order.

So just remember, she was meant for you and you for her. Of course, you want your proposal to be special, and rest assured it will be. The way you propose is less important than the fact that you are proposing. Just plan things out, keep your cool, get down on bended knee and let fate do what it does best.
