So, the big day has come and gone. You have now officially changed status from Single to Married, and it is time for reality to set in. But not so fast! First there is the honeymoon to prepare for before you can finally return to the normalcy of everyday life. And if you are lucky enough to be going on a tropical honeymoon, then you have really lucked out.

Now you may think that preparing for a tropical honeymoon may be the easiest thing in the world. What do you need already, a pair of bikinis and some sun screen? And you may be thinking that even that may not be necessary; after all, it is your honeymoon and chances are that you may not be leaving your hotel suite…Okay, now your head may be in the right place but, to quote someone slightly more famous than yours truly, “A person cannot live on bread alone.”

So here are a few tips of what to take on your tropical honeymoon so as to get the best out of this last piece of the wedding process:

Packing: Pack appropriately. You won’t be needing that much clothing in the tropical climate but that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t have enough room for your purchases. Any girl will tell you that you’re best off going empty but coming back full. Remember to also take a large, light carry all or straw back that can come in handy for the beach, pool, and your shopping jaunts.

All Things Sun Related: If you are like most new brides, your body will be in great shape, so why not show it off in a bikini. However, if you don’t feel like parading for the masses, there are some beautiful one and two piece designs that are very flattering. Sun protection and after sun moisturizing is essential. Don’t rush out and get burnt on the first day and ruin your honeymoon. Remember, a light tan looks healthy; the lobster look isn’t exactly appealing. And don’t forget the shades – a cool pair of designer sunglasses will shield your eyes and have you looking great.

Footwear: Light and comfortable flip-flops are all you need, unless of course you intend jogging or hitting the gym. Take one pair for the beach and another dressier pair for the evenings and more up-scale places.

Reading: Your Kindle, iPad, or other tablet of choice is the perfect accompaniment for keeping in touch with the world and storing reading material.

And remember, if you have forgotten anything other than your passport and credit card, it can be bought elsewhere. I mean what's more authentic than a Hawaiian shirt from Hawaii itself?!
