How to Propose to Your Man

For most people, a proposal consists of a man down on one knee, gorgeous diamond ring in hand, asking his beloved to marry him. In an age where social norms are constantly changing, there is no reason why proposals have to remain old school. There are plenty of women out there who are more decisive and proactive than their better halves and would like nothing more than to proclaim their love and be the one to pop the question - and rightfully. So, if you are a woman interested in proposing to your man, here is how to do it.

Sports Proposals

Without being too stereotypical, many guys enjoy sports and would love nothing more than a sports-themed proposal. True, many guys use basketball games, baseball games, and football games as venues for proposing, but perhaps they’ve got it wrong? They might just be more suitable places for women to propose to their men. A woman can get down on one knee and propose, traditional-style, propose on screen, or in a more elaborate fashion. It can also be done while watching a game at home, or even while playing some hoops. The idea is to incorporate your guy’s hobbies and passions into the proposal.

Over Dinner

A great way to propose to your man is over a romantic dinner that you prepared for him. Nothing says you love him more than preparing his favorite dish. There is no need to hide a ring in his food. Most women don’t even like that. Just surprise him while he indulges in your food and he will surely say yes. If you are not much of a cook, take him out or order in. It doesn’t matter if it’s a fancy French restaurant or tacos; as long as it’s his favorite.

Sentimental Places

You don’t need to get too sentimental to make it the perfect proposal for your man. Just take him back to where you first met, if possible, or go on a replica of one of your first dates. He will more than appreciate the gesture. If your guy has a poor memory or has no appreciation for sentiment, you can take him somewhere you recently went and really enjoyed, whether it was a great restaurant, or a location with a stunning view.

Though every man, and woman, is different, there are many similarities most men share that contrast with some aspects of most women. It is important to pick up on these differences and make the most of them. The thoughtfulness and accuracy of your intentions will more than impress your hopefully husband-to-be. As it is still not completely accepted in modern day society, if you are planning on proposing to him, make sure that he's the type of guy that would be cool with it. If not, well...good luck!
