Wondering what oufit to wear to your winter wedding? Here are a few ideas that will warm up your frosty special occasion with your glamorous winter wedding outfits and make your guests forget about the dreadful weather outside.

Just because it’s snowy and cold outside doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice style when it comes to wedding attire. Both grooms and brides can find easy ways to incorporate warmth into their wedding day looks.

Find the perfect bridal gown and suit to complement your winter wonderland wedding.

The Bride

Long sleeves, shawls, and heavier fabrics all work to compensate for a colder climate; the key to pulling any of these looks off is not to bulk up with too many layers.

A great way to keep warm when you’re outside taking photos or on the way to the venue is to wear a shawl, jacket or even a cape; these are convenient options as you can take it on an off as needed. Choose one that is unique and made of specialty fabric that compliments the rest of your wedding look.

Fur, feathers, and even wool will give you plenty of warmth and keep you cozy in frigid temperatures and can be designed uber glamorously. These are also great options if you have your heart set on a strapless or low cut dress.

Opting for a wedding gown with sleeves can also keep the shivers at bay. A lace sleeve will add a classic elegance to your outfit along with some extra warmth, and many bridal shops even have lace overlays which you can put on and take off as you wish.

Choosing a heavier fabric for your wedding gown or adding an extra layer of lining can also make a dress appropriate for the cold. Heavier fabrics like brocade, damask, dupioni, gabardine, moiré, satin, silk mikado, and even velvet are all ideal choices for winter.

When you go to select your dress make sure to bring a list of these fabrics so that the salesperson can show you suitable gowns. If your heart is set on a more ethereal look with a lighter fabric, you can add a heavier lining to the inner layers of the dress that will provide you some added warmth.

The Groom

For the groom, it’s much easier to find winter-appropriate attire for a wedding; choose a suit made of heavier wool fabric and add smaller details to create your perfect winter wedding look.

While most suits are already made with either wool or a wool blend, if you stick to merino, cashmere, or angora wool's, you’ll keep the warmth in even better. Another option for a heavier suit fabric is to wear flannel, which is less breathable, and therefore, ideal for colder temperatures - not to mention pretty damn awesome.

Guys can also add a stylish sweater-vest, slim scarf, thicker socks, and a heavier button-down shirt to their attire and maximize their warmth.

Finally, the best way to keep warm at your winter wedding is to drink lots of bourbon and dance like there is no tomorrow!
