The jewelry industry is undergoing a period of great change. Ever since diamonds became the stone of choice for engaged couples during the 20th century, the other precious gems have been all but ignored. Rubies, sapphires and emeralds were rarely used in bridal settings. But things have changed. Tired of predictable diamond-only designs, more and more modern brides are requesting a bit of color in their jewelry.
As a classically trained jewelry maker, Barkev Hagopian never understood why most designers only used diamonds in their bridal jewelry. To him, it was like a painter limiting himself to a single color when he had other paints on his palette. Not to mention the fact that he found the other stones every bit attractive as the diamond. Clearly, he was ahead of his time. His early collections contained a lively and vivid array of color combinations.
Decades later, most De Hago jewelry features at least two precious stones. Diamonds are invariably involved, but not always as the star of the show. De Hago is one of the few designers that offer engagement rings with rubies, sapphires or emeralds as the center stone. His diamond baguettes are mounted in 14k and 18k gold or platinum.
The designer’s catalogue is voluminous, to say the least. He presently offers seventeen unique collections that feature bridal and fine jewelry. Though De Hago is famous for their stunning, polychromatic engagement rings and wedding bands, they also offer complete lines of earrings, pendants, bracelets and necklaces.
As a family-owned and operated company, De Hago is respected for their strict quality control and attention to detail. Each and every article of jewelry they design is made entirely by hand in their design studio in New York City. All precious stones and metals are selected by certified gemologists and goldsmiths and are handset by experienced artisans.
