What does it take to make a masterpiece? Contrary to popular belief, they aren't created overnight. It took Michelangelo four years to paint the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel and thirteen years for Dante to finish the Divine Comedy. By comparison, Jack Kelege is a fast and efficient worker. He creates his modern masterpieces in months, not years; though he is still considered slow by industry standards. Most jewelry makers churn out there wares in weeks.

Why does it take him so long? As a designer, Jack Kelege believes that taste is entirely subjective. In other words, you can't force someone to like something. They either do or they don't. The only thing a jewelry maker can control completely is the quality of the pieces he creates, which requires an almost fanatical attention to detail at all stages of the design process. Jack Kelege is famous for his hands-on approach to jewelry making. Not only does he hand sketch the designs on his own, but he also personally oversees their manufacture.

Peering over the shoulders of his master artisans, the designer ensures that each piece is worthy of his name. Some might think this a tad overbearing. After all, each of his workers has at least twenty years of experience in the jewelry industry. They are the best of the best and they are all trained personally by Jack Kelege. But all of them understand that the designer is a bit set in his ways, and that may not be a bad thing!

Old-world quality is hard to come by in the modern age. There are so many shortcuts that trim costs and increase efficiency while reducing quality. Jack Kelege knows that technology is not the enemy. He utilizes the latest computer aided design (CAD) software to help him create working prototypes. But at the end of the day, almost all of the work must be done by hand. Fine jewelry is art, and art cannot be produced by machines.

Jack gives his workers everything they need to create unique articles of heirloom jewelry. He takes the time to personally hand-select each of the precious stones that are used in his collections, as well as the metals. All engagement ring designs begin with collection quality diamonds. When Jack Kelege looks at a stone, he tries to imagine what to do with it. His ultimate aim is to design a setting that will enhance its natural beauty.

Jack offers a full line of bridal jewelry that features elegant, traditional ornaments with a contemporary flair. He also designs fun and free-spirited fashion collections for the sophisticated modern woman.
