Kirk Kara

The story of most master jewelers cannot be told without discussing their families. Like many ancient trades, jewelry making is often passed from one generation to the next. Children learn the necessary skills and techniques from their fathers, who learned the same lessons from their fathers, and so on and so forth down through the generations. Kirk Kara still recalls the magical 1890s workshop where his grandfather plied his trade and taught his father everything he knew about the craft. This knowledge was then passed to the young designer, who discovered his passion for jewelry using his grandfather's tools.
Kirk Kara entered the family business at a time when jewelry making was still considered an art and there were no shortcuts to perfection. It took him years to master every step of the crafting process, from learning how to select diamonds to handcrafting and engraving each individual piece. By the time Kirk Kara began designing his own jewelry for a growing list of clients, he was no longer an apprentice. He was a master.
Several decades later, Kirk Kara has established himself as one of the premier designers of engagement rings and wedding bands. His style is elegant and romantic and is often described as vintage designs with a contemporary flair. All of his jewelry is entirely handcrafted by experienced artisans using only the finest materials.
Customers can choose from platinum or 18K white, yellow or rose gold. Kirk Kara uses only the highest quality diamonds (VS2-S1) in his jewelry. He also uses sapphires in his artistic ornaments, a practice that has caused a stir in the industry. According to the traditionalists, diamonds should stand alone in engagement rings. But Kirk Kara likes to take chances. He also recognized that many modern brides, especially younger ones, like a dash of color in their rings. Small, true blue sapphires used as side stones offer contemporary brides a fresh alternative to the more predictable diamond-only bridal designs.
There are presently nine unique collections of Kirk Kara engagement rings and wedding bands. These collections include both modern and vintage styles, often fused. Many of the rings contain blue or pink sapphires as side stones, though there are plenty of diamond-only designs.
