Akron was settled shortly after the completion of the Ohio and Erie Canal. It was founded by Paul Williams and General Simon Perkins, who were surveyors from the Connecticut Western Reserve. It was their job to identify areas that could be used as strategic points for the developing region. Akron became an incorporated city in 1836.

As trade along the canal increased, so did the local population. Akron became a boomtown in the second decade of the twentieth century. The number of residents more than doubled between 1910 and 1920. Akron became famous for its many tire and rubber plants. It’s most popular nickname to this day is “The Rubber Capital of the World.” At one time, the city was home to four of the world’s biggest tire makers—General Tire, Firestone, Goodyear, and Goodrich. Not surprisingly, it was also known by local residents as “Tire City.”

Though all of the major tire makers have long since left town, Akron has gained fame as a center for polymer research. There are over four hundred companies that work with or manufacture polymers in the greater Akron area. It is for this reason that many locals now refer to the city as Polymer Valley, a name that was inspired by the more famous Silicon Valley.

Akron has received numerous accolades in recent years. It was named a “City of Invention” in 2008 and was granted its third All-American City Award. It is no surprise then that couples are moving to Akron in growing numbers. Many come for the jobs and end up staying and raising families. Of course, it all begins with a ring.

Tacori jewelry may not be easy to find in Akron, since not every jeweler is an authorized dealer. Like most of the top designers, Tacori carefully selects each of its sellers in Akron. In fact, there is no guarantee that there will be an approved Tacori retailer in the Akron area. Most couples must actually travel in order to find Tacori jewelry near Akron. Is it worth it?

The designer strongly recommends buying Tacori rings from an official dealer outside of Akron. Only then will the ornament be covered by the manufacturer’s warranty. Tacori customers also receive a certificate of authenticity with each purchase. The certificate entitles Tacori owners to a number of complementary services, including free cleanings and engraving touchups.

For those who are not up for a road trip, Tacori jewelry can now be purchased in Akron at genesisdiamonds.net. All online Tacori customers are covered by the same affordable prices and quality guarantees that regular shoppers receive.
