The pop sensation Ashlee Simpson recently became engaged after accepting Evan Ross’s marriage proposal. However, it is not her engagement that has us floored, but rather, her unbelievable and unique Neil Lane ring that has everyone talking.
The Ring
It doesn’t get much less traditional than the ring given to Ashley Simpson. The ring consists of a 5-carat marquise-shaped diamond, which is already a less common diamond shape. The diamond is set in platinum and yellow gold, and surrounded with rubies and 140 white diamonds. The result is a striking and unusual work of art. The reputable jewelry designer, Neil Lane, has designed endless rings, including one for sister Jessica Simpson, but he takes particular pride in this creation calling it “One of the most beautiful rings I’ve ever done.”
The Fiancé
Evan Ross is the son of legendary Motown singer, Diana Ross, who at the young age of twenty-five has proven how committed one can be by spending over a month and a half designing this ring especially for his beloved girlfriend and wife-to-be. Evan wanted the ring to be more than just a ring. He wanted it to be a true symbol of love, beauty, romance, character, and unity. Unlike Simpson’s prior engagement ring from ex-husband Pete Wentz, which was a rather traditional Asscher-cut diamond ring, this ring is different and anything but traditional. This is precisely what Ross had in mind when designing the ring.
The Collaboration
Despite Evan’s true dedication to coming up with the perfect ring for Ashley, the feat could not have been achieved without help from family members. Big sister Jessica and mom Tina both helped collaborate in creating the stunning ring.
The Reaction
Needless to say, Ashley was over-the-moon-happy when she laid eyes on the gorgeous ring. She posted a picture of her ring and her new fiancé on Twitter. Lane claims that Ashley was extremely overwhelmed with the ring and proposal as a whole, and states that the two seem to be extremely in love.
We have seen many breathtaking celebrity engagement rings but this one definitely takes the cake in terms of originality. Designers such as Kirk Kara and Jeff Cooper are known to create phenomenal masterpieces. Perhaps we will see one of their designs on a high profile celebrity like Ashley Simpson in the near future.
