Upgrade Your Diamond Ring for Less

Most brides are quite happy with their engagement rings. Even those who had to make compromises usually learn to love their rings. Nevertheless, a time comes when those with the perfect rings and those with rings in need of some improvements, need to make a slight upgrade. After all, even engagement rings can grow old. Upgrading your diamond ring does not have to come at a huge cost. Here’s how to keep your diamond ring upgrade to a bare minimum.

Use Your Diamond

The first and obvious thing you need to do in order to make your upgrade inexpensive is to use the diamond that you already have. The main stone is the biggest expense when it comes to engagement rings. Though your diamond may somewhat limit you in terms of what new setting you can get due to its shape and size, you still have many choices.

Trade in Your Ring

Gold, and platinum, costs quite a bundle these days as well. Instead of just having your old setting lie around uselessly, you can sell it or trade it in and bring down the price of your new ring drastically. Another trick to saving money is going for a thinner band or one of the same size. You don’t have to go bigger and more elaborate in order to have a nice change.

Combine Stones from Old Jewelry

Many people have old earrings lying around that don’t have matches or other jewelry pieces that simply no longer have a use. If any of them have small diamonds on them, you can reuse them in your new ring setting. Smaller diamonds can really make a difference in a ring, and though they are not too pricey, anything that can be used to save you a penny should be utilized.

In the end of the day, you want a new look for your ring. Unless you want and can afford a whole new stone, additional stones, and a large and impressive setting, you should settle for something a little different. It can be a white gold Bez Ambar setting instead of yellow one, a prong setting instead of a bezel setting, or a ring studded in tiny diamonds. There are so many options that won’t set you back too much and will leave you more than thrilled.
